    Sutter Neuroscience Medical Group Welcomes New Neurologists     09-14-2007

    SACRAMENTO – Neurologists with specialties in epilepsy and in deep brain stimulation for Parkinson’s disease recently joined the Sutter Neuroscience Medical Group.

    Nicklesh Thakur, D.O., is board-certified in neurology, fellowship-trained in movement disorders and specializes in deep brain stimulation for Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor and dystonia patients.

    Dr. Thakur received his degree in Osteopathic Medicine from Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine Internship at Queens Hospital Center, New York, and his Residency in Neurology at the University of Texas-Houston Health Science Center. His Fellowship in Movement Disorders is from Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Ariz.

    In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Thakur has participated as a co-investigator in clinical research studies relating to movement disorders. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the Movement Disorders Society.

    Ardeep K. Sekhon, M.D., a fellowship trained neurologist, received her medical degree from the University of Debrecen, Medical and Health Science Center, in Debrecen, Hungary. She completed her internship at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York, and her residency at SUNY-Stony Brook as Chief Resident of Neurology. Dr. Sekhon completed a Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship, with an emphasis in Epilepsy, at New York University Medical Center.

    Dr. Sekhon is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Medical Association and is board-certified in Neurology. She speaks Punjabi fluently and is conversant in Urdu and Hindi.
