150 Hear About ET, Therapy Options at Sacramento Event     10-17-2007

Nicklesh Thakur, D.O., the movement disorder neurologist at Sutter Neuroscience Institute, discussed essential tremor, how it impacts lives and different therapy options during an International Essential Tremor Foundation patient education event Tuesday, Oct. 16, at the Sutter Cancer Center in Sacramento.

Approximately 150 people -- individuals with tremors and their families -- attended the evening, which also featured a talk by a Sutter patient who shared her experience with essential tremor and deep-brain stimulation therapy with the group.

Dr. Thakur, who joined the Sutter Neuroscience Institute this year, is board-certified in neurology, fellowship-trained in movement disorders, and specializes in deep brain stimulation for essential tremor, Parkinson’s disease and dystonia patients.

In July, the Sutter Neuroscience Institute was named one of the top 50 neurology and neurosurgery centers in the country by U.S. News & World Report. Earlier this year, Sutter Neuroscience Institute was designated as a Neuroscience Center of Excellence for 2006 by NeuroSource Inc. of Chicago and HealthTech of San Francisco.
