Sutter Davis Hospital Nationally Recognized for Making Positive Change in the Health Care Industry 11-01-2007
Davis, Calif. (November 1, 2007) - Sutter Davis Hospital is the recipient of Studer Group's November Fire Starter of the Month Award and is being honored for its commitment to clinical, service and operational excellence. Studer Group, an outcome-focused health care consultancy, works with hundreds of health care organizations across the country, and recognizes those that stand out from their peers and serve as premier examples of what is right in health care.

The Fire Starter of the Month Award is one of Studer Group's most distinguished honors that are bestowed upon hospitals. In a special recognition ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 1, Quint Studer, President and Founder of Studer Group, presented Sutter Davis Hospital with the Fire Starter Award. Yolo County Supervisor Helen Thomson offered her congratulations to the employees and physicians of Sutter Davis Hospital, and presented a declaration from Yolo County naming Nov. 1 as "Sutter Davis Hospital Day."
Sutter Davis Hospital's inpatient satisfaction has consistently been above the 85th percentile this year, and its Birthing Center is consistently in the 90th percentile. Employees enjoy working for Sutter Davis Hospital, as indicated by the latest employee satisfaction results, which places it in the 90th percentile in the Hay Group database. Sutter Davis Hospital's physician satisfaction has been above the 90th percentile on both Jackson and Press Ganey surveys.

- Service - Service excellence teams have developed initiatives to enhance the patient experience through improvements in the Emergency Department, Ambulatory Surgery and Medical/Surgical/ICU.
- Quality - Over the past 12 months, Sutter Davis Hospital has implemented a Rapid Response Team, Central Line, Pneumonia and Ventilator bundles and has continued its efforts on process improvement initiatives, such as interdepartmental transport, Emergency Department throughput issues and clinic work-ups on pre-surgical patients.
- Financial - Affordability is the responsibility of every employee at Sutter Davis Hospital, and to ensure that they are stewards of good resource utilization, they have developed metrics ("must haves") for their staff to manage by.
- People - Via a mentoring program for new managers and a preceptor program for new employees, Sutter Davis Hospital is finding the right people for the right jobs.
- Growth - Sutter Davis Hospital is currently in the midst of a remodeling and expansion project, scheduled to be complete in early 2008 that will enhance many areas of the hospital.
