‘Babies’ to Benefit Sutter Davis Hospital’s Family Birthing Center     07-29-2010

DAVIS – There will be a special showing of the movie “Babies” at the Davis Varsity Theater on Saturday, Aug. 7, with proceeds benefiting the Sutter Davis Hospital Foundation’s Happy Beginnings Campaign.

“Babies” is a documentary that follows four babies from around the world – from birth to first steps. The children are: Ponijao from Opuwo, Namibia; Bayarjargal of Mongolia, near Bayanchandmani; Mari from Tokyo, Japan; and Hattie, who resides with her family in San Francisco. This documentary goes into great detail about the way the four babies adapt to their new world. The New York Times raved, “If you love babies, then you will find it very hard not to love this movie.” For more on the movie, go to www.focusfeatures.com/babies.

The movie will be shown at 11 a.m. Aug. 7 at Davis Varsity Theater, 616 Second St., Davis. The cost for adults is $15 and children are $10. Seating is limited to only 256 moviegoers, so advance ticket purchase is encouraged. You may purchase your tickets through the Sutter Davis Hospital Foundation by calling (530) 757-5120.

Happy Beginnings is a campaign that is raising funds to purchase advanced fetal monitors and raise the level of comfort and appearance of the birthing suites and patient rooms in the Family Birthing Center at Sutter Davis Hospital. The goal is to put the best equipment available in the hands of our clinicians and to help them deliver quality care with compassion and excellence in the best setting possible.
