  • Breast Biopsies
  • Abdominal/Retroperitoneal Ultrasound
  • Arthrogram
  • Barium Enema
  • Computer Aided-Detection
Computer-aided detection (CAD) technology is a recent advance in the field of breast imaging. The CAD technology basically works like a second pair of eyes, reviewing a patient's mammogram film after the radiologist has already made an initial interpretation. If the computer software detects any breast abnormalities or "regions of interest" on the mammogram film, it marks them. The radiologist can then go back and review the mammogram film again to determine whether the marked areas are suspicious and require further examination (with additional imaging tests or biopsy). With the CAD technology, the radiologist still makes the final interpretation of the mammogram.
  • Computed Tomography (CT/CAT Scan)
Sutter has the first and only 64 Slice CT Scanner in Yolo County. The 64 Slice CT Scanner is a non-invasive, virtually pain-free procedure offering exceptional image quality, which can mean better diagnosis, faster recovery time and increased patient comfort and convenience.
  • Computer Tomography Angiography
  • Digital Mammography
Sutter is the first to offer digital mammography to Yolo County. Fast and convenient, digital mammography takes half the time to perform and provides results within seconds. Digital mammography also offers better visibility, especially through dense breast tissue and near the skin line and chest wall. See Mammography (link to mammography) for more information.
  • DEXA (Bone Density) Scan
  • Esophagram
  • Fluoroscopy
  • Heel Scan
The simplest scan for bone density screening is known as the single photon absorptionmetry (heel scan) and it is used to measure the density of the bone in the heel. A radioactive material emits photons and the density of the bone is calculated on the number of photons absorbed as compared to those that pass through the bone. As the absorption increases, greater bone mineral content is indicated. Heel scans can be used as a pre-requisite for a dexascan (link to dexascan) if the patient has no other contributing factors.
  • Hysterosalpingogram (HSG)
  • Magnetic Resonance Angiography (MRA)
  • Mammography
  • MRI
Sutter offers a state-of-the-art Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
  • Nuclear Medicine
Nuclear medicine imaging techniques give doctors another way to look inside the human body. The techniques combine the use of computers, detectors, and radioactive substances. These techniques include:
    • Positron emission tomography (PET)
    • Single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT)
    • Cardiovascular imaging
    • Bone scanning
    • Nuclear medicine imaging is useful for detecting:
      • tumors
      • aneurysms (weak spots in blood vessel walls)
      • irregular or inadequate blood flow to various tissues
      • blood cell disorders and inadequate functioning of organs, such as thyroid and pulmonary function deficiencies.
